Kartini Day Celebration
Every year on the 21st of April, Pah Tsung Junior High School commemorates Kartini Day, a day to celebrate the Indonesian hero of women’s empowerment – Raden Ajeng Kartini, or better known as Ibu Kartini. All her struggles to resuscitate Indonesian women to stand up for their existence, not only stay at home serving family but they deserve more than that. Kartini tried to blow that mindset of woman at that time to do more than just stay in the kitchen. She believes that through education the woman should be empowered as the gender equality.
Starting off with the monthly flag raising ceremony led by the student’s council from Junior and Senior High School then followed by singing, quiz, illustration and speech competitions. The purpose of these competitions were to increase a sense of emancipation among students and to explore the potential talents that exist in each student. As the main theme of the celebration is “With the spirit of Kartini, we will improve the quality of learning and women’s empowerment”.
It was really fun in having such a beautiful celebration in remembering all the merit and struggle that until now, we are as Indonesian people can feel the woman empowerment.
